The Timber Construction Competence Centre at the Estonian Open Air Museum helps to bring broader knowledge of the factory building process to anyone who wants more information about modern technologies and opportunities in the field of timber buildings.
Nowadays, construction has moved from the site to the factory – in the case of a factory building, quality, efficiency and competitiveness increase both in time and price. Centuries-long traditions of timber construction and the continuous development of the sector have shaped Estonia into the largest exporter of timber houses in Europe.
The Timber Construction Competence Centre is a significant joint project implemented for Estonia 100 and a gift to the Estonian Open Air Museum.

Tehasemaja OÜ is an Estonian company founded in 2014, specializing in the production of high-quality residential and holiday homes. Our goal is to provide innovative and sustainable residential solutions that meet today’s demanding standards.
COMPETENCE CENTRE
Timber Construction Competence Centre is a modern timber building, introducing innovative living and working environment, that has been created as a result of cooperation and common contribution of a hundred companies and given as a gift to Estonian Open Air Museum as part of the events of “Estonia 100” celebrations.
SHOWROOM
In addition to counseling and training, it is also possible to visit the timber sector showroom – exhibit area that has been co-funded by Estonian Woodhouse Association and European Regional Development Fund via Enterprise Estonia measure “Project competition of support services of enterprises export growth”.
PARTNERS
The project involves about a hundred partners who have all contributed with their resources and competence. We are introducing all companies, sectors, materials, products, services and solutions from idea to implementation, involved in founding of Timber Construction Competence Centre. In addition to already familiar materials and solutions we also present new technologies and innovation.
THE CENTER OF COMPETENCE HAS BRINGED MORE THAN 100 PARTNER COMPANIES,
who have all made a significant contribution to the implementation of the historic project with their services, materials and products. For example, we find smart house solutions, state-of-the-art lighting and light control, high-quality indoor climate and ventilation system, renewable energy thanks to solar panels on both building facades and roofs, interior and exterior finishing materials, construction materials, various foundation solutions, roofing materials, furnishings, yard area, etc.
