ESTONIAN OPEN AIR MUSEUM EXHIBITION – A MODERN FACTORY BUILDING
Tehasemaja – Timber Construction Competence Center helps to bring a broader knowledge of the factory building process to anyone who wants more information about modern technologies and opportunities in the field of timber construction.
Today, construction has moved from buildingsite to factory – in case of a factory production, quality, efficiency and competitiveness increase both in time and price. Centuries-old traditions of wooden construction and continuous development of the sector have made Estonia the largest exporter of wooden houses in Europe.
Companies in the consortium company Tehasemaja OÜ offer handcrafted log houses, machined log houses, wooden frame houses and plywood houses. To celebrate 100 years of Estonia’s independence, the consortium donated to the Estonian Open-Air Museum an exhibition house, which is located in a ticket-free zone and is open to all guests.

COMPETENCE CENTRE
Timber Construction Competence Centre is a modern timber building, introducing innovative living and working environment, that has been created as a result of cooperation and common contribution of a hundred companies and given as a gift to Estonian Open Air Museum as part of the events of “Estonia 100” celebrations.
SHOWROOM
In addition to counseling and training, it is also possible to visit the timber sector showroom – exhibit area that has been co-funded by Estonian Woodhouse Association and European Regional Development Fund via Enterprise Estonia measure “Project competition of support services of enterprises export growth”.
PARTNERS
The project involves about a hundred partners who have all contributed with their resources and competence. We are introducing all companies, sectors, materials, products, services and solutions from idea to implementation, involved in founding of Timber Construction Competence Centre. In addition to already familiar materials and solutions we also present new technologies and innovation.
OUTDOOR STUDY PAVILION
The outdoor study pavilion-sauna house next to the main building can be rented for workshops, seminars, information days or smaller gatherings.

THE CENTER OF COMPETENCE HAS BRINGED MORE THAN 100 PARTNER COMPANIES,
who have all made a significant contribution to the implementation of the historic project with their services, materials and products. For example, we find smart house solutions, state-of-the-art lighting and light control, high-quality indoor climate and ventilation system, renewable energy thanks to solar panels on both building facades and roofs, interior and exterior finishing materials, construction materials, various foundation solutions, roofing materials, furnishings, yard area, etc.

In the house that combines modern work environment, there are under the same roof Estonian Open Air Museum’s Rural Architecture Centre, Estonian Woodhouse Association and Cluster, Tehasemaja oü and consortium enterprise. There are many other organizations and companies related to Tehasemaja.
